Hosted by the Leather and Footwear Manufacturers &amp; Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), the conference will welcome 16 Asian footwear associations and a number of footwear producers in CIFA member countries including China, Vietnam, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan. The focus of the conference will be on examining the topics impacting global footwear markets such as technology, sustainability, exporting to emerging markets, trade finance, and global supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeather is the basis of one of the oldest industries in Bangladesh and plays a significant role in our national economy. The leather sector in Bangladesh is experiencing an annual growth of over 25% and has emerged as the 2nd largest export sector. The government and the leather industry are working together to fulfill their goal of achieving 5 billion USD export by 2020. Japan and EU are now the biggest markets for Bangladeshi footwear and US buyers are increasingly showing interest in sourcing from Bangladesh.
