Tradewind Finance’s John Stillwaggon Serves on Supply Chain Finance Panel at Sourcing Journal Summit 2020

In mid-October, the Sourcing Journal Summit, dubbed “R/Evolution: Overhauling Fashion’s Outmoded Supply Chain”, brought together leaders from the apparel and textile industry in a virtual format to navigate the path forward for retail. Renowned apparel publication Sourcing Journal organized the namesake event, which this year undoubtedly had a focus on the pandemic’s effect on fashion. The summit featured Tradewind Finance’s John Stillwaggon, CEO of the Americas, who spoke on a panel titled, “The new rules of supply chain finance post Covid-19”.

The session included discussion on how financial institutions and alternative lenders are advising supply chain partners, re-evaluating risk and how they are developing new instruments to help ensure liquidity for businesses. During the panel discussion, Stillwaggon honed in on what factors matter in the buyer/supplier relationship when considering a financial partnership with either party. He pointed out that strong communication between the customer and their suppliers, as well as a shared tenacity to overcome business challenges, make for an attractive supply chain dynamic for financing.

Other panelists at the summit included executives from Foot Locker, H&M, McKinsey, Google, Gartner, Wells Fargo, L.L. Bean, Madewell and more.
