DS-Concept Attends HKTDC SmartBiz Expo in Hong Kong

Business and technology were the talk of the town at the HKTDC SmartBiz Expo in Hong Kong on December 6 through 8, 2017—and DS-Concept was there to contribute to the cause.

The expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, catered to SMEs and examined trends in business transformation as well as ways to elevate your business through innovation, technology and design, and market opportunities.

Mr. Clifton Tong, head of DS-Concept Hong Kong, spoke on how SMEs can effectively finance their business endeavors in his presentation on cash flow management for international trade. International cash flow solutions offered by DS-Concept solve the challenges of small and medium-sized enterprises, who often have limited assets, unique currency needs, and a high-demand for readily-available liquidity, all of which traditional bank loans cannot accommodate.

Other members of the DS-Concept team were in attendance, including Goobi Mak and Vicky Ng of the Hong Kong office, and Brian Dowd of the New York division. The team enjoyed meeting with local SMEs, consultants and representatives of different trading associations from countries like Thailand and Cambodia. They exchanged market information with other service providers in the supply chain finance industry, such as local and Chinese banks (who they often work alongside of) and fintech companies. DS-Concept also caught up with clients and business partners like Euler Hermes and Coface who were gathered at the event.

Broken down into six thematic solution-based zones, such as “Techtopia,” which showcased technologies to help SMEs revolutionize their business, and “The Boosters,” which offered business techniques to hone their competitive edge, the expo was bursting with big ideas for small and medium-sized enterprises to take home and move their businesses forward. DS-Concept was not only able to provide its own trade finance solutions, but it also gained exposure in the local market and gleaned insights from others in the industry.

Major exhibit categories at the event included artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, autonomous vehicles, e-commerce, drones and eco-tech. With businesses already reacting to these technologies, the expo—with the help of DS-Concept—prepared SMEs to keep up with the times, because they’re certainly changing.
